Another series is referenced in Star Wars: Ahsoka other than Rebels 

There’s a reference hidden in plain sight in Ahsoka to an animated series that isn’t Star Wars: Rebels, rewarding the most dedicated enthusiasts.

The first trailer for Ahsoka is full of details, but there’s one that you may have missed that calls back to another animated series other than Star Wars: Rebels. 

In the new trailer for Ahsoka, Mon Mothma is featured in a line-up of formal figures. Slash Film reports that official Disney press material refers to the character to the right of Mon Motha as Senator Xiono.

Senator Xiono, as suggested by the name, is the father of Kazuda – the protagonist of Star Wars: Resistance. The animated series was released in 2018 and lasted two seasons. It takes place before The Force Awakens and long after Ahsoka. 

Star Wars: Resistance may not have lasted quite as long as Star Wars: Rebels – which has four seasons – but it was subject to two LEGO sets – 75240 Major Vonreg’s TIE Fighter and 75242 Black Ace TIE Interceptor. These models also included a range of exclusive elements including Major Vonreg’s helmet and Kazuda Xiono’s hair piece. 

This reference in the live-action Ahsoka series, which already seems to serve as a sequel to Star Wars: Rebels, is an interesting Easter egg that should reward enthusiastic Star Wars fanatics. Rumour has it that Ahsoka is getting a range of LEGO sets later this year.
