Do Eternals’ end credit scenes reveal possible future LEGO Marvel minifigures? (SPOILERS)

With the release of Marvel’s Eternals this weekend, do the film’s end credit scenes reveal possible future LEGO Marvel minifigures?

After a longer-than expected delay, Marvel’s latest cinematic epic is showing on big screens around the world. As is usually the case with MCU films, there are couple of extra end credit scenes that are worth staying behind to watch.

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

Fans of Marvel’s movies can usually find out what direction the MCU might be going in, or get to witness a first look at new live-action versions of comic book characters during a film’s end credits. Eternals is no exception.

Shortly after the credits begin to roll, the first of two strange figures materialises inside the Eternals’ ship, the Domo. The first is a short, beer-swilling CG character called Pip the Troll, who’s voiced by Patton Oswalt. Created by Jim Starlin and first appearing in Strange Tales # 179, Pip the Troll was often the companion of Adam Warlock, another cosmic character set to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The second character is Starfox, also known as Eros of Titan. Played by One Direction singer Harry Styles in Eternals, Starfox is the brother of the mad Titan, Thanos. Also created by Jim Starlin, Eros made his first appearance in Invincible Iron Man # 55 and went on to become a full-time member of The Avengers.

The next end credit sequence features Kit Harrington’s character Dane Whitman, who had appeared earlier in the film as Sersi’s present day boyfriend. He’s shown opening a wooden crate containing a mysterious black sword that whispers to him ominously. Comic book fans will recognise this as the infamous Ebony Blade, all but confirming Whitman’s eventual transformation into the Black Knight, who first appeared in Avengers # 48.

The final character isn’t so much glimpsed as he’s heard off-screen. Confused fans might not have recognised the voice of Mahershala Ali, who will be playing the MCU version of vampire hunter, Blade, in his upcoming solo-film.

For LEGO fans these exciting new characters could represent a number of future potential minifigures. Only Blade has been immortalised as a minifigure to date, with the comic book version of the Daywalker having appeared in just one set, LEGO Marvel 76178 Daily Bugle.

However, we can certainly expect to see a lot more LEGO Marvel minifigures being released as the MCU continues to expand with the forthcoming release of Spider-Man: No Way Home in December and on into 2022.
