This captivating creation originated from the imaginative mind of German LEGO Ideas fan designer Florian (aka BrickHammer over at the LEGO Ideas fan community)  back in 2020. Florian’s determination and passion for this project led him to resubmit the LEGO Ideas Viking Village in 2022, even though it was not approved on two prior occasions.

But even more fascinating is the story behind this design and how it eventually made its way into production. In 2022, through a collaboration with the US retail giant Target, the LEGO Ideas Design Team delved into their vault of 10K Club submissions that had previously missed the mark. They then presented three exceptional creations to the LEGO community for a fan vote, where the winning design would become a reality. The LEGO Ideas Viking Village emerged as the clear favorite, garnering an impressive 16,000 votes to secure its path to production.

Let’s dive into the inspiration behind this extraordinary brick design. Florian reveals that while the LEGO Ideas Viking Village doesn’t aim for historical accuracy. However, the inspiration behind this set was first born in his history studies at the university. His interests focused more on the Norman conquest of 1066 and its impact on Anglo-Saxon society. As he immersed himself in books about Norman culture and its Danish Viking origins, a spark of creative inspiration led to the birth of this stunning LEGO Ideas Viking Village masterpiece.

As a fan favorite, Florian’s remarkable concept was brought to life as an official LEGO Ideas set thanks to the collaborative efforts of LEGO Design Manager Isaac Snyder and Graphic Designer Johanna Wurm Jensen.

Now, the eagerly anticipated LEGO Ideas Viking Village 21343 is available for pre-order at $129.99, with a release date of October 1st. Below, let’s explore some of its remarkable features.
