LEGO recently uploaded the designer video for the new. This set didn’t get a special press-release, but it actually has some really nice features. So I thought that we should talk about it in a bit more detail, and I also included the designer video below.
Theis not a licensed set, but it recreates the general classic pickup truck shape of the 1950s with rounded lines and wooden side planks. It features lots of authentic details and play-features like a stepside bed, opening doors, opening hood and tailgate, a detailed engine, working front steering, adjustable mirrors, and removable wooden side railings.
The set comes with three new printed elements; the V8 logo centered on the front grill (the grill is made of claws!), the gage cluster, and the classic LEGO logo on the tailgate. The rest of the decorated elements you see are stickers.
Another nice feature of the set is that it comes with a bunch of accessories so you can create a seasonal display. There’s a wheelbarrow with flowers and a watering can for spring. For summer, there are two wooden crates, tomatoes, carrots (first time in white!), and a milk pail. Autumn brings a crate with pumpkins, while for winter there is a wreath and a festive gift.
The vehicle measures over 5.5 in. (14 cm) high, 13 in. (33 cm) long, and 5.5 in. (14 cm) wide, so it makes a sizable display similar to the other buildable vehicles in the LEGO Creator Expert collection. I also like the choice of dark-red, which gives the pickup truck a vintage look. LEGO usually has some trouble making a consistent shade of dark-red, but for an old truck, the variation is suitable.
In the video below, LEGO designer Pierre Normandin will show you all the special features in detail. Pierre worked on some of the most well known and popular vehicles in the past 15 years, like most of the LEGO City and LEGO Creator Expert Trains, many LEGO City cars, helicopters, and construction vehicles, as well as thefrom last year. You can see the list of the sets he worked on at . He knows how to build vehicles very well!
Themakes a perfect Christmas present. It’s great for those enthusiastic about vintage trucks, but it is also a nice holiday decoration, and I like that the model remains interactive through the year with all those farm accessories. The set comes with 1,677 pieces for the price of $129.99, which is very reasonable for such a large and detailed display model. If you want to check it out, it’s available at the .
What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Creator Expert Pickup Truck? Do you like the color, play-features, and accessories? Are you planning to add it to your holiday shopping list? Or do you have it already? Feel free to share your thoughts and own reviews in the comment section below!
