A world record attempt to buildin the fastest possible time has gone wrong due to a crucial error.
Thehas highlighted another record-breaking attempt from , who in 13 and a half hours as the fastest person in the world to do so, but then decided that it wasn’t enough for him.
His latest attempt was based around, the , and ever made by the Group. The plan was the same, build the model in one sitting as fast as physically possible folllowing the Guinness World Record rules before submitting it for approval.
The experience was smooth sailing until the third bag, where it was discovered that a spare piece was leftover. This wasn’t one of the smaller elements that extras are usually provided but a 3 stud long wedge tile that was meant to be placed on the build. Not wanting to dwell on the potential error for too long, it was dismissed as a mistake.
By the end of the 16 hours, 10 minutes and 29 seconds it took to fully construct, he decided to go back in the instruction and see if the piece was an error from him or the Group.
Unfortunately, the former was the case as one crucial brick was missed out during the long building session. Despite an explanation being provided in the submission to Guinness World Records, the attempt was disqualified for not being complete.
“When I told myand family, the majority of them wondered why I had reported the missing piece,” commented Paul Ufema from All New Bricks. “I told them I’m proud of the certificate that I have, but I just couldn’t justify having another certificate if in the back of my mind I knew I didn’t deserve it.”
