Rumours of a new LEGO Star Wars polybag suggest we could be on course for another minifigure-scale The Phantom Menace set in 2024 – at least if history is anything to go by.
Next year marks the 25th anniversary of both the LEGO Star Wars theme and Episode I, and the LEGO Group is already rumoured to be celebrating the first prequel movie’s quarter-century milestone with 75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama and 75381 Droideka. Both of those sets will reportedly debut on May 1 – but one of the current gaps in the rumoured line-up could well be a new minifigure-scale AAT.
Nestled among a list of polybags reported by Brickset for 2024 is 30680 AAT, which would be our first iteration of the Separatist vehicle (outside advent calendars) since 2020’s 75283 Armored Assault Tank (AAT). For the past few years, pretty much every LEGO Star Wars polybag has been hooked to a bigger set released within the same calendar year, including 2023’s 30654 X-wing Starfighter (released alongside 75355 X-wing Starfighter).

You have to go back to 2019 to find one not linked to a full-size set in 30383 Naboo Starfighter, which was only accompanied by 75223 Naboo Starfighter Microfighter. Before that, 2018’s 30380 Kylo Ren’s Shuttle was seemingly just a precursor to 2019’s 75256 Kylo Ren’s Shuttle – but otherwise, every vehicular LEGO Star Wars polybag for the past seven years has had a larger counterpart either already on shelves, or released in the same year.
That bodes well for anyone holding out for a new AAT, and given the anniversary coming in 2024, chances are good that any larger version of the droid tank would presumably be designed in its original tan colour scheme (rather than the dark blue of the Clone Wars version). The last iteration of the vehicle in those hues came in 2015’s 75080 AAT, which was significantly scaled back from 2000’s 7155 Trade Federation AAT.

A refreshed AAT based on The Phantom Menace feels like a credible candidate for a LEGO Star Wars 2024 set, and could fill any one of the current gaps in next year’s rumoured slate – including 75373, 75377, 75383, 75385, 75386, 75388 and 75389. This is only an educated guess at this point, of course, while previously-rumoured sets (from Promobricks and brickmerge.de) should also be taken lightly.
For now, check out the rumoured list of LEGO Star Wars 2024 sets as it stands in the table below.
