New LEGO book takes off with a space theme

Author Jeff Friesen’s latest LEGO book jets off into space, combining both realistic and fantastical model designs.

The book, LEGO Space Projects, features 52 models, all designed by Friesen himself. It encourages builders to learn more about space-themed creations, ranging from authentic vessels to more creative sci-fi vehicles. For every one of the designs, Friesen has included instructions so you can create them for yourself.

“I think great engineering wonders capture people’s imagination,” Friesen explained in an interview with Space.com. “Space captures their imagination even more because that’s our new frontier right now, as opposed to discovering new continents.”

LEGO Space Projects also shares inspiration for readers to adapt Friesen’s designs for themselves, reflecting his own love of not sticking too close to the instructions of LEGO sets.

“I don’t actually build LEGO sets by their instructions, I usually like to build my own thing,” he added in the interview with Space.com.

This isn’t the first LEGO-themed read that Friesen has written. We reviewed his previous work, LEGO Micro Cities, back in 2018, which you can read for yourself here. You can buy LEGO Space Projects on Amazon for £17.99 / $19.99.
