New LEGO Launches 1 July 2021 and Bricklink Designer Program opens tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the 1st of July, and there are a number of new LEGO set releases on the horizon to be ordered!

To help you plan for the start of a new month, here’s a rundown of what to expect of all the new July 2021 releases!

  • 10282 Adidas Superstar
  • 40486 Mini Adidas Superstar GWP
  • 21327 LEGO Ideas Typewriter
  • New Monkie Kid July 2021 Sets
  • LEGO Frozen 43197 The Ice Castle

LEGO Adidas Superstar

A major release will is the highly divisive 10282 Adidas Superstar, which will retail for US$79.99 / AU$159.99 and will be available from LEGO.com and LEGO Brand retail stores.

Be sure to read my review to see more of LEGO’s first brick-built shoe, to see if it’ll fit you.

If the big shoe doesn’t fit, you can always size down with the 40486 Mini Adidas Superstar, a gift with purchase that will be available from 1 – 25 July 2021.

It will be applicable to ALL purchases above the threshold, and the best part is that you won’t need to purchase the 10282 Adidas Superstar to qualify for it!

You can also check out my review of the mini LEGO Adidas Superstar for more photos – I actually like it slightly more than the full-sized LEGO shoe.

LEGO Frozen 43197 The Ice Castle

LEGO 43197 Frozen The Ice Castle Lifestyle

LEGO shoes not your style? How about a 1,709-piece super-sized Ice Castle from Disney’s Frozen?

At 65 cm high and with a pricetag of US$199.99 / AU$349.99, this is LEGO’s most ambitious and detailed LEGO Disney Princess set so far (complete with Minidolls!) and I must confess – this is a day one purchase for me.

I have a 4-year old daughter, and will be going to see Frozen The Musical in 2 weeks so it’s safe to say that Frozen Fever will be upon my household.

Also… this blog has a long history of reviewing Frozen sets – I reviewed the original 41092 Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle in 2015 and 41068 Arendelle Castle Celebration in 2016, so I’m really keen to check out this set and add it to my collection.

21327 LEGO Ideas Typewriter general release

If you missed out on VIP early access, the LEGO Ideas Typewriter will have its general and public release tomorrow, which means that it’s very likely to be available again.

To learn more about the design process of the Ideas Typewriter, check out the Q&A with the LEGO Ideas Design Team or listen to an audio interview with Steve Guinness, who submitted the original Ideas project on the Extra Pieces podcast.

New Monkie Kid July 2021 Sets

Monkie Kid continues its strong run of sets, with 3 new sets that will be available come 1 July 2021:

Bricklink Designer Invitational Pre-orders open

After a month’s delay, the Brinklink Designer Program begins its first crowdfunding round with 7 projects that you can crowdfund.

The crowdfunding round opens on 1 July at 16:00 BST (UK), 11:00 EST (USA), and 01:00, 2 July (AUS). Each person can crowdfund as many projects as they like, with a limit of 5x per project.

Pricing isn’t available yet, and I suspect that we’ll all get sticker shock, but once the crowdfunding round is complete, production will begin in September 2021, with orders likely to ship before the end of the year.

I’ll probably try for The Castle in the Forest, but with only 5,000 production sets available, I can see these being snapped up instantly. Check out this blog post for more details on Bricklink Designer Program

LEGO July 2021 Store Calendar (US)

Last but not least, here’s a look at the upcoming US LEGO Store calendar. Good to see the Charles Dickens Tribute set make a return on 7 July 2021 onwards.

1 July is shaping up to be a busy month, with something for everyone, and who knows what other surprises LEGO will have up their sleeves!
