See LEGO DREAMZzz unique building instructions out in the wild

LEGO DREAMZzz’s unique 2-in-1 experience requires a new approach to building instructions, as seen in these early images for some of the upcoming sets.

With LEGO DREAMZzz aiming to encourage ‘guided creativity’ in its builders, there are two ways that you can build all of the sets in the upcoming wave, set to launch from August 1. That means that the building process is explained up to a certain point, using roughly 60 to 80% of all the bricks, before builders then need to choose which ‘path’ to take, in what the LEGO DREAMZzz designers call the ‘choose your adventure moment’.

Of course, while it’s a fun idea to encourage creativity for young builders, it could easily result in confusing instructions, if it’s not clear where they need to choose a specific path. Thanks to Brickset, we can now see how the instructions look in close detail.

The LEGO Group uses colour to clearly highlight the three distinct sections of the building process: the uniform first step and the other two choices that every builder will need to make. What’s more, the pages are coloured and tabbed, to make it easy to find the place in the instructions booklet you need and flip through to the start of your chosen adventure.

This approach to building instructions closely reflects the emphasis on creativity and colour, as well as serving a practical purpose for a new and unique way of building LEGO sets. Adding something new to a. process that LEGO fans of all ages are well used to will always pose a challenge, but the LEGO Group appears to have solved it in a clear and aesthetic way.
